What is the Child Dental Benefits Scheme?
The Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) is a program run by the Australian government that provides benefits for basic dental services to eligible children and teenagers.
Who is eligible for the CDBS?
Children and teenagers aged 2-17 years are eligible for the CDBS if they or their family receives certain Australian government payments, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A or other relevant Australian government payment or holder of Healthcare Card.

The CDBS covers a range of basic dental services including:

What dental services are not covered by CBDS?
More complex or specialist dental work is not covered.

- Services provided in a hospital operating theatre
How much is the benefit for a dental treatment?
Eligible children can receive up to $1,095 in benefits over a 2 year period for basic dental services.
How do I access the CDBS?
To use the CDBS, you need to find a child dentist in Albany that accepts CDBS services. The dentist will help you to claim the treatment cost with the Medicare for the provided dental treatment. We do not bulk bill CDBS.

There are some exclusions and limitations with the CDBS, such as:
It does not cover orthodontic treatment
There is a 2 year limit on the $1,095 in benefits
Certain advanced or cosmetic services are not covered
